Free NHS eye examinations throughout Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire

Regular sight tests are important as your eyesight can often change without you being aware of it. Eye examinations are also a valuable health check and can detect, for example, cataracts, glaucoma and high blood pressure. A regular eye examination is also of importance for diabetics and both patients with a family history of glaucoma.

Those patients suffering from poor communication skills, for example, after a stroke or suffering with dementia, an eye examination should form part of their heathcare. A patient suffering from conditions such as undetected cataracts or glaucoma can experience failling vision and discomfort. This in turn can reduce quality of life and even change behavioural characteristics. An eye examination is not simply just about spectacles.

Our home eye tests, similarly to those in a practice, check the external and internal health of the eye and will determine your correct prescription.

The test can take between 30-60 minutes but we take our time and work at your own pace. If needed, we can refer you on to a hospital if further treatment is needed, such as cataract surgery.
